Abstract
360,119. Letterboxes. MITCHELL, A., 17, Bierley Lane, Bradford, Yorkshire. Sept. 12, 1930, No. 27232. [Class 18.] A closure flap for a letterbox comprises a metal casting F, Fig. 2 and 5, with an opening O in its upper part and a cross-bar C with its face set back and with two side ledges L below the bar. The flap has an upper part A, Fig. 3, slightly larger in area than its lower part A<1>, the two parts lying in different planes, the upper one resting on the bar C and thelower one resting against the ledges L. A central rib A<2> is extended to form pivot pins A<3> which rest in slots in open box-like parts B on the casting F. The device is secured to the door by bolts the ends of which are accommodated in the boxes B. Opening F<1> may be provided to carry pins from which a knocker may be suspended. Letters are passed over the top of the plate A, the lower part being sufficiently heavy to reclose the flap when a letter has been passed through. The cross-bar C may be separate from the casting and held between the casting and the door by the securing bolts.
