Abstract
360,004. Box signs for vehicles. NODEN, T. J., of Denaby & Cadeby Collieries, Denaby Main, near Rotherham. July 21, 1930, Nos. 22015 and 23001. [Class 3 (ii).] An identification sign for front and rear of vehicles comprises a casing 1 hinged to a back-plate 3, the casing having longitudinal grooves 7 into which can be slid separate stencil plates or plates of transparent or translucent material with the numbers or letters painted on to show through apertures 9. One end of the casing is slotted at 10 to receive an L-shaped metal plate 11 which is riveted to the side of the casing and is apertured to receive sealing means 13, 14 which may be of lead and which pass through similar apertures in the side of the casing. Green and white illumination can be used for the casing on the front of the vehicle and red and white for the casing on the rear of the vehicle. The number plates can have their illumination varied through switches operated by the brakes. The back-plate 3 may be painted either black or white or may be fitted or formed with a mirror surface. The casing 1 may be formed with apertures to provide for daylight illumination of the identification number and for ventilation.
