[Class 59.] A machine that is provided with interchangeable parts so that it may, as desired, be used for the slicing up of roots and tubers, the decorticating, crushing and grinding or milling of cereals and the breaking up of oil cakes comprises a frame 1 within which an electric motor 2 is supported by radial arms 3 extending from a ring member 4, the motor shaft 20 being adapted to have fitted thereon a plate 18 the type of which varies with the nature of the work to be effected. In the form shown, which is suitable for the decortication and crushing of cereals, lentils and the like, the plate is provided with fingers 21 which move in a circular crenelated groove 22 formed in the lower part of a co-operating frame 13 adapted to be secured on the upper part of the main frame 1 by bolts 15. A hopper 14 constituting the upper part of the frame 13 leads to a central reduced passage in which a cylindrical sleeve 23 having a serrated lower edge'26 is arranged, this sleeve being adjustable vertically by a hand operated crank 25 to control the flow of material to the treatment groove 22. The treated material falls through the annular space between the motor and the frame into a container that is secured to the frame by clamps S. The plate 18 may be provided on its periphery with notches that serve to sift the material passing the plate, the blades at the sides of the notches being displaced relatively to the general plane of the plate. In the plate for breaking oilcakes the upper face is provided with radial notched blades adapted to strike the lower edge of the oil cakes that are arranged vertically in an opening in the corresponding upper frame 13.
