Abstract
358,678. Feeding devices for granular &c. material. STEEL BAND CONVEYOR & ENGINEERING CO., Ltd. and ALLEN, W. H., Barker Street Works, Parade, Birmingham. Sept. 11, 1930, No. 27107. [Class 59.] Finely divided material is delivered from a shoot 6 to a conveyer through a hopper 1 provided with a pair of relatively inclined plates 8, 9 separated at their lower ends by a gap 11, the arrangement being such that the material is delivered by the shoot on to the plate 8 and is directed by it on to the plate 9 in such a manner that the impact causes air to be released from the material. An aperture in the top of the hopper is covered by a piece of hessian or other fabric 7 of such a texture that it permits the passage of air but intercepts any dust. Baffles 10 on the plate 8 spread the material into a thin layer. The plate 8 is mounted upon a rotatable rod 12 which can be held in any adjusted position, and the plate 9 is hinged at 16 to a rotatable rod and adjusted by a screw 17.
