[Class 88 (ii).] A violin shoulderrest consists of a shaped bridge-piece a of wood, rubber, ebonite, &c., extending across the back of the instrument and supported only by ridges b, c on the edges of the instrument at opposite points where it is secured by clamps d. The outer surface of the bridge-piece has a cavity which is roughened or provided with a fluted rubber layer.
