Abstract
356,486. Hand shears. BARNFATHER, R. B., 57, Margravine Gardens, Baron's Court, London. Sept. 11, 1930, No. 27143. [Class 30.] A toothed plate g is detachably secured to one blade of garden shears to hold twigs &c. during cutting. The plate has a lug i turned under the blade to act as a stop, and is provided with a hole or an oblique slot g<4>, Fig. 8, for mounting on the pivot f of the shears. Flanges h, h<1> are turned down to fit against the sides of the blade e<1>, and slits l are provided to facilitate the bending of the rear end of the plate. The nut f<1> may be looked by a plate k fitting over it, to serve also as a spanner, and engaging in the end of the handle c. In a modification, the plate has a longitudinal slot to receive the pivot f, and is held in place by a wire loop passed over the nut f<1>.
