Abstract
356,462. Uniting by fusion. UNDERWOOD, W. J., 70, Chancery Lane, London. -(National Tube Co. ; Frick Building, Pittsburg, U.S.A.) Aug. 30, 1930, No. 25984. [Class 83 (iv).] In seam welding the bevelled edges of the workpiece B are placed in contact and the groove is filled with magnetic flux 9. A metal rod 12 is then melted by an arc formed between the rod and the groove. The flux is attracted to the rod and maintains a layer x over the molten metal y in the groove.
