Abstract

<PICT:0356415/IV/1> <PICT:0356415/IV/2> <PICT:0356415/IV/3> A washing machine for spun cakes of artificial silk threads comprises a carrier placed freely liftable on supports of a vat, and provided with crank mechanism connected by means of hanging devices with frames on which loosely detachable rods or reels for the thread cakes are arranged. The crank mechanism and hanging devices may have such dimensions that at each turn the frame together with the thread cakes is dipped into and out of the treating liquid. It is preferable to rotate the cranks slowly in order that when the cakes are lifted out of the bath, liquid may drain out of them. The machine may be constructed in double form, both sides of the carrier being fitted with crank mechanism, and in order to balance the machine the mechanism on one side should differ in phase from that on the other side by 180 DEG . If a common vat is provided, this arrangement of the mechanism will result in thorough stirring of the liquid. When several different treatments are required, a number of vats are placed in a row and the carrier is moved from one place of treatment to another by means of a travelling crane running along a track which may be endless so that the yarn carrier may be brought back to the starting point. As shown in the drawings, the ends of a vat a have supports b with rests c. On these rests a carrier d with crank mechanism i may be placed. On the crank mechanism, the frames m are suspended by hanging devices l. Frames m are provided with a number of rods n on which are placed the spun cakes o either directly or by means of small expansible reels. A shaft f provided with worms q is turned by a motor e. This gives the crank shaft h a slow rotation by means of the worm wheels g. The cranks i, k also receive a rotary motion and raise and lower the frames m by means of the hanging devices l. The thread cakes are thus immersed in and lifted out of the bath at regular intervals.
