Abstract

355,614. Ventilating vehicles. KRUCKENBERG, F. and STEDEFELD, C., 20, Georgsplatz, Hanover, Germany. Dec. 6, 1930, No. 36855. Convention date, Dec. 7, 1929. [Classes 20 (iii) and 137.] In a high-speed railway power car having a body portion comprising internal and external coverings secured to a light supporting framework, the car floor may comprise longitudinal beams and crossbeams 27 arranged in lattice-form or a series of trough-shaped beams, but in all cases providing suitable apertures or passages for heating and ventilating conduits, cables, draw-ropes, &c. Under the floor the outer covering is formed by hinged metal plates 80, as shown, while the floot itself comprises metal plates 51 with a heat insulating covering 52 which is carried up the sides of the vehicle at 53 almost to the level of the seats. Extending above the parts 53 to the window-ledges 54 are wall cushions 55, inlet openings 56 for the admission of fresh air being located between the elements 53, 55. Each window is formed of two spaced panes 58 carried in strips 59, 60 and located between upper and lower external rails 67, 66. The ceiling covering 71 extends between internal longitudinal rails 68 on each side of the car and is built up of fire-resisting plates provided with ventilation openings 78.
