Abstract
353,637. Lubricating pistons. BRUEGGER, Z. A., 900, North 16th Street, Boise, Idaho, U.S.A. June 18, 1930, No. 18640. [Class 12 (ii).] An inclined channel 23, which may be separate and removable, is formed on the inner surface of the piston to catch splashed lubricant and transfer it to the wearing surface of the piston by a passage 24. The thrust part of the skirt 21 has a taper 25 which merges into the head 2 and deflects the oil on to a rib 7 from which it drips to the wrist pin journals. The bottom of the channel 23 acts as a reservoir for lubricant and facilitates starting.
