[Class 26.] Apparatus for the treatment of various parts of the human body comprises a movable carrier to support known treating devices including means whereby such devices can be brought into use without manual effort, which can be reciprocated along stationary guiding means between two reversing points or moved into any desired stationary position. Adjustable means are provided actuated by the carrier whereby the direction of motion can be automatically reversed. The apparatus can be used for spraying and atomizing medicaments and cosmetics in liquid form. In the example shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the carrier 3 engages with a screwthreaded spindle 4 by means of members 5 carrying screw-threaded eyes 5a. On rotating this spindle by suitable means, e.g. an electric motor, the carrier 3 can be moved up and down. The members 5 pass through a slot in the wall of the pillar 2, the said slot being rendered fluidtight by an endless band 18 of rustless steel. The carrier may be stopped at any height by suitable control of the driving mechanism, or may be reciprocated continuously, reversal of the direction of rotation of the spindle 4 being effected electrically or otherwise by a trip device 7, comprising for example an electrical contact arranged to strike against the vertically adjustable contacts 8, 14. The contact 14 is adjusted by means of a screw-threaded spindle 13 rotated by a hand-wheel 9 through the bevel gearing shown. A similar spindle 13a is provided to adjust the upper contact 8 (see Fig. 2). The position of the contacts may be rendered visible on an indicator driven from the shaft 16. The carrier 3 may accommodate any desired number of appliances which may be interconnected with its driving mechanism, and they may be so connected with their operating means that on completion of the treatment they may be hermetically closed. Air may be supplied to the carrier through a valve, e.g. a ball valve situated at the point 19. The guiding means for the carrier may also be arranged for horizontal movement, or it may be attached to a wall or ceiling, so that it can be used after the fashion of a movable shower bath. The whole apparatus may be arranged to rotate by suspending it, e.g. by a ball-and-socket joint, at its upper end, and correspondingly guiding the lower end. Thus, if the device moves circularly, it will spray a body in the middle at all levels and from all sides, or a body may be sprayed spirally by this arrangement. The apparatus when arranged to act as a coin-freed machine, is provided with a hinged cork slab 20, which serves to close in the operating means, and is released by the coin mechanism.
