[Class 108 (i).] In collapsable caravans the framework is so arranged that the covering at the roof and sides is automatically supported, distended and kept taut by spring-loaded side frames, such frames keeping the covering extended while the beds are folded into the body and when the roof and said frames are lowered the covering folds outside the floor of the beds and is pressed against the outer side of the caravan by the side frames when loaded. The roof frame comprising tubes 6 is supported by telescopic pillars 4, 5 from the base frame 7, berths 14 are hinged to the frame at 15 and side roof frames 8 are hinged at 7 to the main roof frame and provided with arms 9 to which are connected springs 10, and rods 11 hinged to brackets 13. A canvas covering 17 is provided for the whole vehicle. The springs 10 serve to keep the frames 8 extended but when the latter are folded the rod 11 and spring 10 having passed the line connecting the hinge centres 7, 12 tend to keep the frames 8 closed and also to keep the cover pressed against the exterior sides as shown in Fig. 2. The berths, telescopic tubes, and roof frames 8 may be connected so as to operate together when the berths are folded or extended.
