Abstract
350,908. Spray-producers. FRENCH, A. W., Mysto Works, Ladvwood, Birming- ham. March 13, 1930, No. 8197. [Class 69 (iii).] A paint &c. sprayer of the kind in which air and paint nozzles are arranged at right-angles so that the stream of air induces and atomizes liquid from the other nozzle, is provided with a selfcontained valve unit for controlling the air supply mounted in a transverse passage in the handle. The unit may be separately manufactured and the head of the apparatus cut around it. The unit comprises a tube 19, Fig. 1, provided with a valveseat situated between bores in alignment with passages 18, 13 in the handle 14. The tube 19 is held in place by screw plugs 27, 28 through one of which passes the stem 23 of a spring-pressed valve 24, which is operated by a trigger 32. Fig. 4 shows a modification in which air is allowed to escape when the sprayer is not in use. For this purpose an additional vent is provided having a valve seat 36 normally open but which is closed by the end 38 of the valve stem 37 when the valve 24 is open. A passage 40, Fig. 1, controlled by a valve 41, may be provided to admit compressed air into the vessel 2 when spraying heavy liquids.
