[Class 63.] Relates to hat blocking machines of the kind comprising a mould chamber within which the hat is to be moulded and a co-operating pressure member in the form of a distendable bag, e.g. of rubber, and means, for lowering the pressure member into the mould prior to the blocking operation, and consists in means for moving the mould chamber laterally out of register with the head to facilitate changing of the work. The mould chamber 10 is secured to side guide bars 26 slotted to engage guide rollers 28, a buffer 37 cushioning the movement. The head 13 carries a distendable rubber bag 12, is guided by vertical rods 23, and is suspended by a chain 14 passing over a pulley 15 to a counterweight 17. The pulley is rotated, to raise and lower the head, by a ball-ended rod 20 and lever 18. The head carries catches 31 co-operating with projections 33 on a ring 34 encircling the mould chamber and provided with a handle 36 for clamping the parts 10, 13 together. This handle also serves for moving the mould chamber 10 to and from operative position. In a modification, two mould chambers are mounted on one pair of guide rods, so that when one mould chamber is in the operative position the other is in charging position.
