349,878. Feedwater supply systems for steam boilers. MASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON, Oerlikon, near Zurich, Switzerland. Sept. 24, 1930, No. 28567. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1929. [Classes 64 (i) and 123 (ii).] In preheating and degasefying plants for steam - power units wherein condensate and make-up water from evaporators are heated to a definite temperature in preheaters and then fed to boilers, the circuit including degasefiers wherein the condensate &c. is raised at a definite pressure to boiling temperature to expel the gases, intermediate and high-pressure steam controlled by temperature regulators is used to ensure the degasefier acting effectively at all loads without waste of pressure steam. The condensate pump 3 delivers the condensate through the preheater 4 and an additional preheater 16 to the degasefier 5 wherein a definite temperature of 102‹ under atmospheric pressure prevails. The gases are led off through pipe 15. At maximum load, preheating to boiling temperature takes place in the preheater 4 and none in preheater 16. As the load drops, the exit temperature of the preheater 4 sinks. A temperature regulator A on the degasefier 5 opens pipe 11 to feed intermediate steam from a pipe 10 to bring the condensate to boiling temperature. For starting up, degasefication is ensured by taking live steam from the supply pipe 14 through pipe 13 controlled by a temperature regulator B. The preheater 16 may also be partially utilized at maximum load. The evaporation products may be led to preheater 16 which may be constructionally combined with preheater 4. Surface or contact preheaters may be used.
