Abstract

347,495. Bone-setting devices. YOUNGREN, E. E., St. Francis Hospital, San Francisco, U.S.A. May 9, 1930, No. 14368. [Class 81 (ii).] A device for setting broken bones, and retaining them in position until set, comprises a number of needles 5 .. 8 adapted to be passed into the bone and mounted in a frame provided with means such as turnbuckles for adjusting the relative position of the needles. The outer needles 5, 8 are mounted in the offset limbs 12 of threaded members which engage tubular elements 9 rotatable by inserting a tool in slots 19. The inner needles 6, 7 are clamped in shanks 22 which pass through blocks 21 slidable on the tubes 9. The shanks 22 are secured in adjusted position in the blocks 21 by means of wing-nuts 23, 24.
