Abstract
<PICT:0347059/IV/1> <PICT:0347059/IV/2> In a jigger in which a squeezing roller 3 carried by arms 4 on a shaft 5 is adapted to be swung from one winding roller 1 to the other 11 and vice versa by spur gearing 7, 9 on the shaft 5 and a lower shaft 8, the shaft 8 carries a loose worm wheel 10 normally clutched to a hand-wheel 11 feathered on the shaft and displaceable along it against the action of a spring 12. The worm wheel 10 engages a worm 15 fixed to a shaft 16 provided with a hand-wheel 18 by which it may be rotated in bearings 17 and the shaft 16 is free to slide in the bearings against the action of two equal springs 19 disposed between them and the worm 15. In operation, the squeezing roller is moved over from one winding roller to the other by the hand-wheel 11 which is disengaged from the worm wheel 10 for the purpose and final pressure is applied by the second hand-wheel 18, the shaft 16, when the worm 15 can rotate the shaft 8 no further, being displaced in the bearings 17 so that one of the springs 19 puts pressure on the squeezing roller.
