Abstract

342,488. Hand-trucks. COTTING- HAM, R. F., Enterprise Works, Digby Street, Scunthorpe. Jan. 3, 1930, No. 265. [Class 108 (i).] Collapsable trucks adapted for use in garages and also in bakeries having double decker ovens are constructed with a wheeled base, a platform supported by a pair of interconnected lazytongs, a pair of threaded screws operating in nuts carried by the lazytongs means for imparting an initial opening and closing movement means for simultaneously operating the screws, intermediate bearings for the screws and a hand-wheel. As shown, the platform 4 is adapted to be raised by crossed bars 5, 6 pivoted at 7 and at 2, 9 to the truck and platform, the other ends of the bars 5, 6 being provided with rollers 8, 11. Two channel members 17 are provided having screwed bosses 20 for rods 21 having right and left-handed threads and the channels 17 have integral therewith spindles 15 provided with rollers 14 which are adapted to engage in hooks 12 on the bars 5, 6 to raise the platform. Depending from the spindles 15 are arms 18 connected by rods 19 which engage in stops 13 so that operations of the screwed rods 21 cause these stops 13 and rods 19 to effect the initial upward movement of the platform. The rods 21 which are geared together by chain and sprockets pass through bosses 25 carried by cross bracing 27. According to the Provisional Specification the platform may be carried by telescopic legs from the truck and is raised and lowered by lazytongs operated by screwed rods geared together.
