Abstract

340,655. Building, vehicle, and ship constructional elements. SOURDIS, P., 3, Place de la Madeleine, Paris. Oct. 16, 1929, No. 31459. Convention date, Nov. 13, 1928. [Classes 20 (ii), 20 (iv), and 87 (i).] Slabs and like elements for building and other purposes, of the kind in which the embossed portions of a metal plate are soldered or riveted to a second embossed or plain metal plate to form a partially hollow slab, are constructed with the lateral walls of the embossed portions thinner than the plate itself. Fig. 1 shows an example in which the lateral walls of the embossed portion a of the plate A are thinner at all points than the unembossed parts of the plate but increase in thickness towards the greatest depth of the embossed portion. In this instance the plate A is soldered to a flat plate B and the intervening space filled with concrete d reinforced by rods e. The concrete may be replaced by a light alloy or weld. ing material. Two embossed plates may be soldered together instead of an embossed plate and a flat plate. Fig. 2 shows a plate rolled with thicker portions 2 on opposite faces to assist in forming the embossed portions in accordance with the invention. The parts of the plate between the embossed portions may be corrugated or undulated in one or more directions. The height of the embossed portions may vary so that the two plates will not be parallel when assembled, or the second plate may be curved. The slabs may be adapted to fit in special places by bending the plates between the embossed portions before assembly. Fig. 4 shows the flat plate provided with holes f to allow the plaster of a ceiling to penetrate, thus anchoring it in position. The slabs or panels are stated to be applicable as wall, ceiling, roofing, or flooring elements, frame members for vehicles and ships including submarines, and for aeroplane structures and accessories, and also may be bent into rings for walling in mines, shuttering for reinforced concrete, bridges and radiators.
