Abstract
340,648. Manhole covers, gratings, &c. HARTLEY, J. W., Drysdale House, Newcastle Road, Stone, Staffordshire. Oct. 15, 1929, No. 31219. [Classes 20 (ii) and 107.] Street manhole covers, gulley grids, gratings and the like are formed as cast-iron structures with ribs 2 curved at the bottom and provided with reinforcing b a r s 3 which are wholly or partly encased in the ribs near the bottom and conform to the curvature thereof. The reinforcing rods may be steel or wrought iron bars, wire rope, or wires or ropes of high tensile steel. The castiron structures may be used as covers for apertures in floors, the ribs being provided on the under surface of a flat floor plate.
