Abstract

340,599. Cow-milkers. HOSIER, A. J., Wexcombe, Marlborough, Wiltshire. Oct. 2, 1929, No. 29925. [Class 84.] The milk claw is provided with means by which the outlet from the milk conveying pipe is auto. matically closed should the claw strike the ground owing to the cups becoming detached from the teats. As shown, the milk conveying pipe 1 is provided with a valve 12 carried by a stem 13 passing through a cap 14 closing the end of the pipe 1, the valve being normally held away from its seat 11 by the engagement of a downwardly. extending part of the stem 13 with a groove 15 in a boss 16. If the claw falls and the ball 17 of the stem 13 strikes the ground, the stem is forced out of engagement with the groove 15 and the valve is drawn on to its seat by the suction of the pulsator which may be assisted by a spring mounted between the cap 14 and a shoulder 18 on the stem 13.
