Abstract

340,424. Pencil sharpeners. FELGER & CO. GES., 6, Adamstrasse, Nuremberg, Germany. Jan. 23, 1930, No. 2379. Convention date, Dec. 5, 1929. [Class 146 (iii).] In a combined lead pencil sharpener and waste receptacle, the usual sharpener is provided with a slip-on case comprising a body 6, Fig. 2, with a semi-circular gap 11, and a cap 7, Fig. 3, with a semi-circular gap 10 and an upper wall 8 containing a circular opening covered with a transparent inspection window 9, of glass, celluloid, &c. The sharpener 1, Fig. 1, with conical opening 2, an attached tangential bar 3 for securing the blade 4, and a slot 5 facing the bar, is inserted in the axial direction through the gap 11 of the body 6 of the case and rotated until the bar 3 lies entirely inside the body, and then the cap 7 is slipped over the body 6 so that the gaps 10, 11 together form a circular opening around the sharpener. The front corner of the bar 3 bears against the wall of the body of the case 6 and prevents the sharpener 1 from turning in a clockwise direction. The receptacle may be angular instead of round and may be provided with a special abutment to prevent the sharpener from turning inside the receptacle.
