Abstract
339,813. Gray, C. W. Dec. 28, 1929. Stays. - A stay combined with a hinge consists of a plate 12 hinged to the outer ends of one of the hinge-leaves 2 and of a plate 9 sliding in guides 8 on the other hinge leaf 1, parts 10 of the plate 9 being bent up to engage with parts 14 of the guides and prevent the plate 9 from being completely detached from the leaf 1. A catch, which may consist of a spring projection on one part entering a recess in the other, may be provided to hold the plate 9 in any intermediate position relative to the leaf 1, thus holding the hinge partly open. The plate 9 may be strengthened bv ribs 11. The plate 9 on the leaf 1 may be replaced by a wire frame sliding in guides on the other of these parts. The stay 12 is arranged to cover the hinge when the leaves are in line.
