Abstract
339,461. Pellizzari, G. Nov. 20, 1929. Motors, cooling.-A motor is cooled by a device - comprising an annular jacket surrounding the machine through which jacket water is circulated, e.g. by a pump driven by the motor, and which - contains a number of parallel air-circulating tubes connected at their ends to two headers communicating with the interior of the motor. In the form shown, the annular water jacket 5 around the motor casing 1 is connected by pipes 21, 22 to the inlet chamber 19 and outlet chamber 20 of a pump 16 attached to the motor casing and coupled to the motor shaft at 18. The jacket is traversed by air tubes 6 which connect the two headers 7, 8 respectively connected to the inside of the motor casing by tubes 9, 10. The air circulation is maintained by a fan 14 on the motor shaft. The invention is particularly applicable to motors for use in a dusty atmosphere, in chemical works or in other surroundings demanding a motor with an hermetically closed casing.
