Floor rugs and mats having a face material d of any suitable type, are provided with a backing composed of a fabric a made with large meshes and a layer of fibres h which are worked through the meshes and incorporated with the latter by means of spiked and flat press rollers. The back. ing may subsequently be passed between studded or ribbed rollers so as to have a pattern impressed on the fibre layer, and dyeing may be resorted to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 241,570.
