Abstract

337,356. Robinson, J. May 29, 1929. Divided on 335,883, [Class 103 (v), Railway &c. vehicles, Draught &c. appliances for]. Couplings, disconnectible. - In an automatic train pipe coupling the flexible pipe is detachably secured within the coupling head, so that the gasket which completes the joint between the connectors may be replaced whilst the pipe coupling heads are in contact. An elbow 21 secured to the end of the hose 22 is adapted to pass through an opening in the hollow body 20 of the coupling head. The gasket 30 has an internal groove 30c so that the gasket is expanded by fluid pressure. The elbow is retained by a spring-pressed U-shaped pin 25. To couple with a hand coupling a tubular union 35 is provided, secured diagonally beneath the coupling head by a bolt 38 engaging a slot 36. The union is provided with means for attaching the detached hose 22 and a hand-coupling 40. Specification 112,677 is referred to.
