Abstract
337,334. Kando, K. von. March 15, 1929, [Convention date]. Dynamos and motors, cooling. - A rotor is cooled by fluid flowing in pipes arranged in slots between the main winding slots in the form of loops the inlet and outlet ends of which are both situated at the same end of the rotor, and may lie in an oblique or curved form against the rotor body to give an increased local cooling action. In the form shown, the pipe loops 4 are placed in radial slots between the winding slots 2 with their ends 5, 6 in curved contact with the rotor in such a manner that the loops may be inserted or removed through the coil ends 7 by turning them about the point x as centre. The loops ars connected by means of soldered sleeves 10 to the inlet and outlet heads 8, 9 which are secured against conical packing seatings 12 by screws 11 and communicate respectively with the main supply and discharge channels 13, 14. Any liquid which may leak at the sleeves 10 is caught and led away without having access to the windings. The tubes may be of flattened section, as shown, so that centrifugal force causes the liquid to press their flattened sides into good thermal contact with the slot sides and the tubes may be soldered to spacers 16 to give flat loop elements ready for sliding into the slots.
