Abstract

335,252. Levy, D. L. June 21, 1929. Chrome and like mineral tanning; combination tanning processes; currying; stretching at any stage during tanning.-Hides, skins and the like, after an initial tanning, are stretched and fastened to a frame and subjected to a second tanning liquor containing common salt and are finally subjected to fat-liquoring in a drum containing oil to which glycerine has been added. The first tanning liquor may contain chrome-alum, common salt and an acid such as sulphuric or hydrochloric acid. The second tanning liquor may be any known chrome tanning bath with the addition of common salt.
