Abstract
335,227. Sambouroff, S. W. March 16, 1929. Magnetic separators.-In a magnetic separator, the material to be treated is fed from hoppers 1 by shoots 2 to the outside of a horizontallyrotating drum 3 having a fixed electromagnet 4 inside and provided with ribs on its outside, the magnetic material clinging to the drum and being thrown off into shoots 5. The non- magnetic material drops down on to horizontallyrotating plates 6 and is carried under the drum 3, the magnetic material clinging to ribs on the bottom of the drum 3 and being thrown off into the shoots 5. The material remaining on the plates 6 is removed by scrapers 8 and caused to flow into shoots 9 from which it falls in front of the fixed magnets 12. The magnetic material clinging to the plates 13 is thrown into chambers 14 and the purified material drops into receptacles 11. The plates 6 are adjustably mounted' on their shafts.
