Abstract

332,458. Fox, B. S. Sept. 23, :1929. Controlling consuming devices.-A lamp for a motor head-light contains three filaments, one in the centre of the bulb and the others at some distance on each side of it and slightly above when the lamp is in position; means are provided by which the different filaments can be energized as the car turns so as to project the beam forward, to the right or to the left as required. The filaments 11, 15, 18, Fig. 1, are arranged as shown, the filament 18 being rather further from the centre of the bulb than the filament 15. They have a common connection 10 to the body of the cap 7, their other extremities being connected to three contacts 19, 20, 21. Fig. 5 shows connections for energizing the different filaments as required. A battery 26 is connected to a switch 2 having a rotary arm 31. When the arm 31 is in contact with one of the studs 28, 29, 30 the corresponding pair of filaments 11, 11'; 15, 18<1> and 18, 15<1> is energized. When the arm is in contact with the stud 27 the filaments are energized through an arm 39 carried by the steering gear and passing over contact plates 34, 35, 36 connected respectively to the same pairs of filaments.
