330,096. Triggs, W. W., (Ingersoll-Rand Co.). May 2, 1929. Surfacecondensers.-In a steam condenser comprising a shell A having a steam inlet B and condensate outlets D, condensing tubes E arranged transversely to the steam flow, and partitions J which divide the shell into a number of compartments of different steam condensing capacities. A devaporizing section 0 for air &c. is arranged within the shell and is divided into corresponding compartments each provided with an outlet pipe Q. connected to an ejector R; by adjusting the ejectors R, different vacua are maintained in the different compartments of the devaporizing section and the steam is arranged to penetrate equally all the compartments of the shell.
