Abstract

329,825. Hammond, E. V. May 14, 1929. Operating tension, pulleys.-In belt gearing for use on motor vehicles &c., a tension pulley d is carried on one end of a lever a, the other end of which is linked by an adjustable rod g to a bellcrank operating-lever j, the pivot m connecting the parts g, j moving over a dead centre, so that when the pulley is in driving-position the rod is in tension and is maintained against return movement. In a modification, the pulley is carried on an arm pivoted to a fixed point and is connected to the lever a by a link which is screwed through a hollow sleeve carried in a boss on the end of the lever and is secured in adjusted position by lock nuts.
