Abstract
327,984. Mauduit, G. de. Oct. 15, 1928. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Fixed multiple-chamber apparatus, valve systems for.- Ingredients for cocktails are drawn by a pump 2 from main containers 8, 9 into measuring vessels 4, 5, are retained to a level determined by the adjustable supply pipes 12<1>, and are delivered by way of a plug valve 20 to a common orifice 16. An opening 40 uncovered as the pump piston reaches the end of its stroke causes excess liquid to be returned rapidly to the main containers. The pumpactuating rod 32 runs on pinguides 33 and is connected to the piston-rod 2<1> through a frame consisting of cross-rods 35, 36 and spring-encircled longitudinal rods 37. A bracket 43 integral with the rods 36 carries a spring pawl 44 which, as soon as the rod 32 commences its return stroke, moves levers and links 46, 48, 50 to throw over the valve 20 to its discharging position. A channel 23 conducts the measured liquids to a vessel 24, preferably icejacketed and containing an agitator 25. Both members 23, 24 are readily removable for cleaning, the latter being held between a bracket 79 and a spring-pressed support 84 carried on a pivoted rod 82. The agitator may be set in motion by an electric motor 28, the circuit of which is closed by the movement of the rod 32. This, by removing a stop 64, allows the vessel 60 to be moved by a spring until the enclosed mercury 68 bridges contacts 67 in the motor circuit. A dash-pot 70 restrains the return movement of the rod 32. A rack 77 and pawl 78 prevent the reversal of the bar 32 except at the end of its stroke. In a modified arrangement for controlling the motor 28 a projection on the bar 32 closes the circuit by bringing an armature into contact with the core of a solenoid. The circuit is automatically broken by means of a finger 95 separating the contacts 94, 94<1>. The finger is secured to a spring-pressed carriage having a projection 97 in engagement with a worm driven by the motor. As the circuit is broken the carriage with the projection 97 and finger 95 are returned to their initial positions by means of a guide 97". The outlets from the measuring chambers may be controlled by lift-valves, the stems of which form the cores of solenoids energized at the required instant with reference to the movement of the pump bar 32. Coin-freed mechanism may be fitted controlling the pump or any other element of the mechanism. Specification 323,006, [Class 27, Coin-freed apparatus &c.], is referred to.
