Abstract

327,543. White, J. F., and Leather, C. W. I. March 9, 1929. Openers, cleaners, &c.-A machine for opening, cleaning, and mixing wool, cotton and like fibres comprises a spiked cylinder A, Fig. 1, or like device in which the fibres are given a preliminary opening and from which they are discharged into a blending chamber B having a curved top b and on to a revolving perforated cylinder C containing a stationary vertical baffle plate G, the cylinder being provided with end suction chambers H, Fig. 4, connected by branches h with a suction pipe h<1>, the lower portrion of the chamber B being formed by a conveyer F which carries the material forward from the spiked cylinder A and receives material brought down by the perforated cylinder C and discharges it from the machine or through a duplicate apparatus.
