Abstract

Driving. - A sewing-machine is driven by an electric motor 4 mounted on one end of the main shaft 1, the motor having a multiple pole magnet frame and a slotted armature with a core mounted directly on the armature boss. This enables a small motor to have a sufficiently high work capacity. The main shaft 1 rests in a bearing shield 2 in the frame 3 on which is also mounted the magnet frame 5 having six poles. A bush 6 carries the boss 7 of the armature 8, an extension 9 of the boss carrying the commutator 10. The screw knob 13 switches in or cuts out the motor. It also presses the disc 12 into engagement with the bush 6 of the armature to the switch shaft 1. The cover plate 15 rotates with the armature so that the shaft 1 can be operated by hand to adjust the needle. The current is fed from a plug 21 by an internal lead 22 or an external lead 20.
