Spindle apparatus.-A delivery spindle of the type adapted to produce two twists per revolution comprises a, rotating frame 3, Fig. 1. a stirrup 1 freely mounted therein on bearings 2, 2' and carrying between centres 7, 7<a> a shaft 6 on which the bobbin 5 is freely mounted, the thread 10, drawn off at 10<1>, passing through the hollow trunnions of the frame 3 and over guide-pulleys 11, 13 - - 16. The centre 7<a> is slidable in the bush 8 under spring control and may be secured in any desired position by a screw 9 while the bobbin 5 is supported on collars 6<a> on the shaft 6. The stirrup 1 is maintained stationary while the frame 3 is rotated as described in Specification 324,544 or by means of gearing 17 - - 20, Fig. 2. The bevel wheel 19 fixed to a gear wheel 20 is driven at such a speed in relation to the speed of the frame 3 that the bevel gear 17 is maintained stationary.
