Abstract

323,478. Johnson, J. Y., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). Sept. 22, 1928. Vat-dye mixtures which give direct black dyeings are prepared by mixing from 50 to 90 parts by weight of one of the dyestuffs obtainable by the action of weak alkaline agents on an aminodibenzanthrone as described, inter alia, in Specification 314,593, with from 10 to 50 parts by weight of at least one of the dyestuffs obtainable by the action of weak alkaline agents on a nitrodibenzanthrone or nitroisodibenzanthrone (Specification 314,593), or from dibenzanthrone by the action of hydroxylamine (Specification 204,241), or by condensation of 1 melocular proportion of 1.5-diaminoanthtraquinone with 2 molecular proportions of 2-chloranthraquinone. To such mixtures may be added up to 10 per cent of other vat dyes for shading, for example, blue, orange or red vat-dyes. Such mixtures are very fast to chlorine, bucking end washing. Examples are given of mixures prepared according to these requirements which dye in blue-black to neutral black shades.
