Testing coins. - To prevent the insertion of cardboard discs or of undersized coins or discs, the slot is obstructed by a slide or slides 12 which are withdrawn bv the insertion of a correct coin 10. Iron discs of correct size passing the slides 12 are stopped by a magnet 17 which is pivoted at 18 and is provided with lugs 17<a> which swing into the path of the inserted disc. The apparatus is shown in sectional plan and elevation in Figs. 1 and 2 with the parts in their normal positions. Levers 11 pivoted at 11<a> pass through slots 12<a> in the slides 12 which are held in the obstructing position as shown by springs 13. Levers 15 pivoted at 16 have hooked ends 15b which normally lie in the path of the slides 12 and limit their opening movement. A coin of correct diameter passing between the levers 11 brings the ends 11<b> of the levers against set-pins 14 on short arms of the levers 15, so as to turn the levers 15 about their pivots and permit the coin to pass the slides 12. A cardboard disc will not exert sufficient pressure on the levers 11 to overcome the resistance of the springs 13.
