Abstract

322,825. Bowker, S. O. Sept. 12, 1928. Divided on 323,034. Junction boxes.-The base 1 of a junction box has diagonally placed shoulders 2, 3 that engage with shoulders 16, 17 on the cover 15 which can be deformed by pressure at the ends of the, other diagonal to disengage the shoulders. The cover may engage internally between inwardly turned shoulders on the base. The cables are gripped by plates 9 having a row of projections 14 or longitudinal ribs, and supported on posts 5, 6. The posts shown are shouldered and riveted to the base 1 and have screws 12 that engage slots 10, 11 or holes in the plates 9 and enter the upper ends of the posts 5, 6. Alternatively, externally threaded posts may be employed on which work nuts that engage the plates 9 at any height and can be employed with cables of various diameters. Projections 4 on the underside of the base 1 space it from the wall &c. on which it is mounted.
