Abstract
322,294. Dicker, S. G. S., (Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken), Oct. 24, 1928. Thermionic amplifiers.-Re1ates to means for amplifying a direct or slowly-fluctuating voltage by superposing the input upon a high or medium frequency carrier-wave. In order to relieve the final valve rectifier 18 of the load represented by the carrier-currents, thereby allowing a more substantive amplification) of the low-frequency input 9, 10, the carrier is eliminated in a preliminary stage consisting of two balanced pushpull amplifiers 12, 13. A portion of the input voltage from the terminals 9, 10 is applied to the grids of the amplifiers 12, 13 by adjustable tappings 6, 8 across a potentiometer 7. A tapping 5 on a second potentiometer 4 is adjusted to balance the carrier frequency 1 across the tuned output circuits 14, 16 so long as there is no voltage applied across the points 9, 10. A tuned circuit 10, 20 shunted across the rectifier output bye-passes residual high-frequency components. To prevent distortion a fraction of the output voltage across the resistance 21 is fed back in phase opposition between the points 22, 23 of the input. Specification 323,823 is referred to.
