Abstract

321,927. Williams, P. T., and Minerals Separation, Ltd. Aug. 18, 1928. Flotation apparatus.-In a froth-flotation plant consisting of a number of cells each comprising an agitation compartment 11 and a froth-forming compartment 12, an auxiliary outlet in the form of a weir 16 is provided in one or more of the end cells, and preferably also in the other cells, at a point, such as somewhat below the froth level, where the pulp is normally more dilute than elsewhere, for passing pulp to a cell higher in the series. As shown, the outlet 16 may lead into the pipe which conducts the outflow from the first froth-forming compartment F<1> to the next agitation compartment A<2> which thus acts as a slime-treatment cell. Water may be supplied from a pipe 29 to the weirs of the frothforming compartments F<4>, F<5>, F<6>, and to the agitation compartment A<6>. The coarse portion of the tailings follows the path A<3>, F<3>, A<4>, F<4>, A<5>, F<5>, A<6>, F', and the bulk of the slime follows the path F<3>, A<2>, F<2>, A<1>, F<1>, where it is discharged. Specification 253,618 is referred to.
