Abstract
320,953. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., and Regis, E. July 28. 1928. Carrying through partitions.- An insulating bushing 1, which may be of porcelain, adapted to contain oil to insulate an electric conductor, is closed at one end by a conducting plug 2 carrying the conductor 3. The conductor 3 extends axially through the bushing 1 and is fitted with a connector cap at the other end of the bushing 1. A radial flange 4 on the connector cap has an outer face 5 flush with the end face 6 of the bushing, and, to form a liquid-tight joint, a packing ring 7, such as a cork gasket, is placed over the faces 5, 6, and compressed bv a plate 8 and lock-nuts 9 which are screwed over the end 10 of the connector cap. To prevent the cap from turning when making a joint, a slot 11 is provided for the insertion of a tool. The flange 4 is adjusted by screwing on the end of the conductor 3, a nut locking the cap in the adjusted position. The conductor 3 may be formed with a tapered extension 13 to fit a recess in the plug 2 which is cemented into the bushing end, and held in position by a bolt 14 screwed into the extension 13.
