Abstract

320,289. Becker, F. Dec. 21, 1928. Paper bags.-In closing the end of a multi-ply paper bag, paste is applied between the plies for a short distance from the end of the bag tube and a reinforcing strip 5 of paper or other material, which is W- or M-shaped in cross section and has a row of perforations 1<x> in its central or V- shaped portion, is applied to the end, the central V-shaped portion 3 being disposed between the walls 4 of the bag; the outer portions of the strip are pasted to the exterior of the bag walls, the inner portions being left free, and the strip and walls are then secured by a line of stitching. The perforations. and the stitches act as vent holes during the bag filling operation.
