Scale pans. - In a weighing-machine of the kind having an upstanding indicator casing adjacent the goods-pan, the goods-pan is preferably trough-shaped and is provided with a combined guard and load holder that has an upright position in which it prevents the goods on the pan from coming in contact with the indicator casing, and a second position in which it rests on, or extends above, the pan to maintain, in vertical or substantially vertical position, small objects weighed on the pan. The guard 8 of a goods-pan 3 is pivoted at its ends to the upper rim of the pan and is rotatable into the position shown in dotted lines, in which position it serves to hold a package 15 that is passed through one of a series of holes 10 in the guard. In a modification the guard is removably attached to the pan by spring clips.
