Abstract

320,108. Zwicky, G. July 5, 1928. Refrigerating;compression machines for.- A countercurrent evaporator for indirect brine cooling comprises an annular casing containing several helical evaporating pipe coils arranged one below another with no space between two adjacent coils so as to form a channel for the brine in the casing. Refrigerating medium passes up three coils 2 arranged as shown in the annular casing 1 and brine is cooled in descending between the coils. Alternatively, the centres of the pipes in a radial section lie on an oblique line.
