Abstract
319,941. Evans, W. E., (Demag Akt.- Ges.). Oct. 6, 1928. Laying or guiding ropes on or off during winding or unwinding.- In order that the turns of the rope may not rise out of the grooves in the drum when the rope is slack, the turns of rope that are immediately adjacent to the position at which the rope leaves the drum are surrounded by a gripping ring 10 that rotates with the drum and is traversed along it by the guide 4. A spring 11 may be provided to press the ring against the rope. In a modification for use with drums surrounded by a casing, the gripping ring and the guide are composed of hinged sections which permit their insertion between the drum and the casing. In another modification the gripping ring is replaced by a number of rollers.
