Abstract

319,624. Buck, H. Jan. 10, 1929. Closures completed by outstanding packing- rings; stoppers, means to prevent of.-A stopper for a bottle &c. has a rounded, bulbous or double conical end 12 covered by a resilient sealing member 14 which is compressed against the inside of the neck of the bottle. The stem of the stopper is reduced in thickness at the root 13 so that the stopper can be readily withdrawn by pressing the head at right angles to the neck of the bottle. The proportions of the stopper are such that the distance between the point of contact and the stem with the neck of the bottle and the most remote point in the stem is at all stages of the withdrawal less then the distance between the said point of contact and the nearest point in the neck at the opposite side thereof. The neck has an internal rib 18, Fig. 5, or groove 17, Fig. 9, and the sealing member may be a cork &c. sleeve, or a rubber coating. The stopper may be pivotally attached to the bottle by a wire clip 25.
