Abstract
316,550. Palazzo, F. C., and Palazzo, F. July 30, 1928, [Convention date]. Phosphoric acid.-An aqueous extract of superphosphate, containing free phosphoric acid, is treated with dicalcium phosphate to obtain either monocalcium phosphate or a mixture thereof with dicalcium phosphate, the product being dried under reduced pressure at say 50‹ C. In carrying out the process superphosphate may be leached in two stages, first to get a concentrated liquor saturated with monophosphate and containing most of the free phosphoric acid, and then to obtain a second liquor which is treated with milk of lime to precipitate dicalcium phosphate, the latter after washing and drying being reacted with the first liquor. The liquor obtained by washing the dicalcium phosphate may be used in the preparation of the milk of lime employed, and those obtained by washing undissolved residues for the leaching operation.
