Abstract
316,044. Andrews, E. S., (Simplex Piston Ring Co.). Sept. 7, 1928. Pistons, balancing laterally, packing.-A split packing-ring is expanded by a wave spring, which exerts a preponderance of pressure at one point, and presses the piston against the cylinder wall at the opposite point in the direction of the gudgeonpin axis. The. piston surface is recessed at the latter point in order to form spaced bearing surfaces G, G<1>. Preferably the piston is recessed at the opposite side F also.
