Abstract

315,059. Kidner, A. E. May 23, 1928. Hand-trucks.-A lifting appliance of the kind having a lifting platform mounted on a base and adapted to be raised therefrom so as to raise a load resting on a load platform, has two arms pivoted to the base and connected to each other by a link pivoted to the carrier, so that the lifting platform can be raised by a lever pivoted to the base. As adapted for use as a hand-truck, the base 2 is mounted on wheels 20 and has at each end two links 10, shown diagrammatically in Fig. 2, pivoted at one end to the base and connected at their other ends bv links 12 mounted on the lifting platform 1 by pivots 14. A draw-bar 5 pivotally mounted on the base carries a hook 7 adapted to engage a cross-bar 8 on the platform to raise it by a downward movement of the draw-bar, The platform is retained in the raised position by a hook 16, Fig. 3, engaging with a cross-bar 14a on the platform, the hook being releasable by a pedal 18. The load platform, not shown, may have supports such as legs or may move in vertical guides.
